Topic outline

  • Module 1 - Engaging Faith Actors to Support the Implementation Process of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Interreligious Dialogue

The module provides an overview of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The key challenges and opportunities of implementing the SDGs will be highlighted and the role of different actors and stakeholders, including faith actors, in the implementation process of the SDGs will be examined.

  • Module 2 - Mainstreaming the SDGs into National Policy and Planning Processes

This module discusses some challenges and opportunities related to the implementation of the SDGs and their mainstreaming into national policy and planning processes. It also offers a model for mainstreaming a national planning process, and explores the possible ways in which faith-based actors and religious leaders can play a positive role.

  • Module 3 - The Role of Faith Actors and Interreligious Dialogue (IRD) in Implementing SDG 16

Welcome to this module where we will learn about how faith actors can be engaged, and how to best work with various government institutions to plan and implement SDG 16 at national and global levels.

  • Module 4 - Faith for Earth: A Time for Action (SDGs 6,13,14,15)

Welcome to this module where we will learn about engaging faith actors to support the Sustainable Development Goals implementation process.

  • Module 5 - Countering Hate Speech Through the Promotion of IRD and Cooperation for Peace

This module analyzes the disturbing rise of xenophobia, racism and intolerance from the perspective of the United Nations. Nowadays, social media and other forms of communication are being exploited as platforms for bigotry and hate speech. In this sense, violence committed “in the name of religion” can lead to massive violations of human rights, including freedom of religion or belief. In order to tackle the disturbing rise of hate speech, the mutual understanding and interreligious dialogue constitute important dimensions of the dialogue among civilizations and of the culture of peace.

The module presents a model with methodology and policy recommendations on how to identify and counter the hate speech through the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace with potential partners at all levels.

  • Module 6 - Assessing Faith-Based Actors’ Contributions to the SDGs

This module is developed to encourage and enable faith-based actors to explore how their current work links to the SDGs, and to make these links visible and more intentional. It is designed to promote the use of the SDG self-assessment tool developed as part of The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) ‘Waking the Giant’ initiative; to help broaden the evidence based on how faith-based actors around the world contribute to the specific goals and targets of the Agenda 2030.
